Central Asia Solidarity Groups based in Malmö, has existed as a network since 2009 and registered as an organization in 2012. Our work focuses on the Central Asian region, which includes the five post-Soviet republics Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The organization’s initial focus was Kyrgyzstan, however, since 2013, the focus has broadened and now encompasses projects and collaboration in the remaining countries in the region as well. Central Asia Solidarity Groups also runs local projects and partnerships in Sweden.Our overall aim is to encourage a democratic Central Asia with a strong, active, and inclusive civil society that contributes to the upholding of human rights and social justice. Based on this aim, we have chosen to work within the following four thematic areas:
